Healthy Living

I like to say that I'm new to this healthy living lifestyle but in reality that's not exactly true.  My grandmother and great aunt raised me and for the most part we grew our own food.  I was raised in rural East Tennessee so we of course had fried foods and the dreaded sodas.  A lot of soda!

Every once in awhile my birth mother would show up and whisk me away to some location in a different part of the state where when we did have food in the house it consisted of processed junk foods.  Now believe me when I say I'm not this old and still blaming my mother for bad eating habits.  I do think that at that time I learned it was cheaper and easier to grab boxed/frozen foods than it was to make a healthy meal.  It was not unheard of for me to sit down with a bag of potato chips and wash it down with a few cokes and call that a meal.  I still have to fight a part of me that would rather do that.

For the most part I'm lazy.  I can cook but it's not something that I love to plan and create.  Which has led to me becoming overweight, sluggish and sick a lot.  My six year has a serve type of eczema which is affected not only by the chemicals placed in products but also what she eats.  I have started to go back to the lifestyle my grandmother taught me and have seen huge improvements in my family's health.

In this section I will be placing ideas, tips and recipes that work for my family.  Hopefully you will enjoy them as well.
